19 November 2025
HAD Football client Xavier Taylor has been drafted by Melbourne at Pick 11 in the 2025 AFL National Draft.
Xavier, a 192cm tall defender from the Eastern Ranges, had a standout 2025 across the Coates Talent League and the AFL Under 18 National Championships. He averaged 18 disposals and six marks a game in the Talent League, and was best on ground in the Eastern Ranges' grand final win with 25 disposals and 15 marks.
Known for his aerial ability, rebounding and the speed to push up the ground, Xavier can play as a key defender, a floating interceptor or further forward. Before the draft, AFL.com.au’s Cal Twomey named him one of the top prospect in the 2025 draft.
Leadership, courage and determination were key reasons behind his selection, and they're the traits Xavier has shown in his work with HAD Football. We're proud to have been part of his journey and can't wait to see him thrive in an AFL system in 2026 and beyond.
Congratulations, Xav.
